They Don't Deserve You

Tommy Stinson and Chip Roberts

Article Rating

Tommy Stinson was a founding member of the influential group The Replacements. He has been the bass player in Guns N Roses for over a decade and toured with Soul Asylum.

Chip Roberts is a long time Philadelphia local guitarist. He and his trusty green Bulldog Telecaster were well known to crowds at Dobbs, The Cabarets, The Main Point and many places in between. Chip and Debbi Calton met at a radio station event in 1984 and have blissfully been together ever since!

Chip and Tommy Stinson have been recording lots of music for a forthcoming release, while also working together on their art. This piece is called "THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU."

THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU

This painting was done by Chip Roberts (local guitarist) and Tommy Stinson (The Replacements/Soul Asylum and currently, Guns N Roses). It depicts a scene from Tommy's forthcoming video which was recently filmed in Philadelphia in an after hours bar housed in a mansion near Rittenhouse Square. This video (soon to be released through tommystinson.com) is for the first single that will be released on Tommy's new CD. The song is called THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU and the video is seedy and surreal with a drum banging bunny at the center of the action. The bunny and drum and some of the girls from the video are portrayed in this piece. This painting is actually seen in the video and is signed by both Tommy and Chip. It is destined to become a collector's item! Look for the video and music coming soon as well!

DEBBI CALTON'S 1st PICK!

1st pick: THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU

There are a number of reasons that this painting is one of my top picks. First off, I was there when it got painted! In fact, it was painted in my house by my husband Chip Roberts (legendary local guitarist!) and Tommy Stinson (The Replacements/Soul Asylum/Guns N Roses.) It goes with a video that Tommy filmed for a song from his forthcoming CD. The song is called THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU. In fact, I was there for a lot of the recording of that CD and even got to sing a WOO WOO or two on one of the songs. Chip plays guitar on a number of songs and even gets to yodel. Not only that but we can even be seen in the video along with my lovely niece Emily Roberts, Tommy's girlfriend. This project was a family affair in many ways! It was really fun being a part of the album recording process from start to finish. The painting hints at the surreal nature of the video which features a drum banging, cigarette smoking, whiskey swilling bunny. Look for it soon at tommystinson.com.
